SIR RICHARD BRANSON

September 1, 2014 - 7:30 pm

Programme

During a two-hour spectacle at the Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp, Sir Richard Branson will be relating entrepreneurial dynamism to sustainable development, two aspects that are absolutely essential to growth. The issue of energy is sure to play a key role, with particular focus on the unprecedented opportunities for deep geothermal in Flanders: "deep geothermal as a sustainable alternative to shale gas". Sir Richard Branson will be discussing climate change and its global consequences with the foremost authority on climate, Rajendra Pachauri, Nobel laureate and chairperson of the UN's IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

Sir Richard Branson will explain how he has shaped and is now expanding his global empire, as well as the initiatives and risks he took, giving new impetus and lending colour to initiative and entrepreneurship. Virgin Galactic will of course be a topic of discussion, with an appearance by astronaut Frank De Winne. Virgin Galactic is the world's first commercial space travel company and is known for providing "the greatest adventure of all".

The event is the first of its kind and unique to Belgium. It will be divided into two one-hour parts, with a half-hour break in between.
